Sympathizers are people who live within the verified communities of America but help or "sympathize" with Invalids and others in the Wilds. Sympathizers are usually cured themselves but may help Invalids as they feel the Cure and/or persecuting Invalids is wrong. People who are discovered as being sympathizers in verified communities are given a trial but this is usually just for show as the person will undoubtedly be thrown in prison for life or else executed.
